The first time Joan was called a witch was when she was eight years old, and from that moment, she knew that the man they called the prophet wouldn’t save her. The miracles performed on Abney Farm were mere mirages to Joan as she slowly becomes disillusioned with the altar at which Beau, her father, was willing to sacrifice anyone for his destiny. This play is a Southern Gothic retelling of the tragedy of Shakespeare's Macbeth, inviting you to bear witness to man’s ruthless grasp on destiny and asking you to judge the price of liberation.

Fed up with narrow roles for people of colour and women, I wrote Cavity to break molds. Joan isn’t docile or palatable. She’s furious, complex, and fighting back. This is a story of ambition, betrayal, and survival, where the stakes are personal and the power struggles cut deep. We’re bringing this reckoning to the Corpus Playroom and want YOU in it. If you crave raw, demanding roles: full of vulnerability, rage, and truth—audition. Let’s tell this story together. The cast is small with only six characters - Joan, Beau, Catherine, Dolly, Rain, and Billy- but each is unique with their own tale of heartbreak.
